From November 18–21, 2025, six high school students took part in the MUNOM 2025 conference in Munich, Germany, proudly representing the delegation of Afghanistan across six different committees. Their participation marked another inspiring milestone in ISD’s Model United Nations journey—one that blended rigorous thinking with meaningful global engagement.
The school’s MUN program is a great opportunity for students to learn about international relations, conflict resolution, negotiation, concise public speaking, teamwork, and research. It helps students understand the complexity of the world’s most urgent problems by encouraging them to explore multiple perspectives.
Through MUN, ISD students also connect with peers from schools across Hungary and abroad, building friendships with young people from diverse cultures and experiences. Ultimately, the program serves as an introduction to leadership and citizenship for the future political, business, and community leaders of tomorrow.
This year’s conference theme—“Forging a future where democracies stand together against division, defend human dignity, and foster shared prosperity”—challenged our delegates to think deeply about unity, justice, and the responsibilities nations share in shaping a more peaceful future. Representing Afghanistan required each student to grapple with complex global issues while authentically advocating for their assigned country’s perspective.
Throughout the four-day experience, our students demonstrated remarkable growth. They negotiated resolutions, delivered speeches, collaborated in lobbying sessions, and navigated the intensity of international debate with confidence and empathy. By the end of the conference, they had not only strengthened their research and communication skills but had also grown into more caring, curious, and creative changemakers—students prepared to lead with integrity and compassion in an increasingly interconnected world.
