Steps of the Admissions Process

1. Admission Policy and Requirements

Before applying, we encourage you to review our admission policy and requirements on our website. At ISD, we seek students who demonstrate the ability to benefit from our academic program. This is assessed through interviews and past records.

2. School Tour or Online Meeting

If you are interested in joining ISD, we offer two options for you to learn more about our school. You can either book a school tour or have an online meeting with our Admissions Team. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to gather further information and address any questions you may have.

3. Application Process

To initiate the application process, please create an Open Apply account on our website. Once you have created an account, you can complete the online application and upload the necessary documents. These documents include personal information, social-emotional background, health questionnaire, and academic records.

4. Admission Interview Appointment

After submitting your application and documents, the Admissions Team will review your materials. If everything is in order, they will contact you to schedule an admission interview appointment. The interview can be conducted either in person or online, depending on your preference.

For Elementary School applicants, the interview will last approximately 30 minutes and will involve the School Counselor, ES Principal, and the Admissions Director. No English language proficiency is required until Grade 6.
In Middle School and High School, the interview will last approximately two hours and will involve the MS/HS Principal, Counselor, MS/HS Coordinator, and the Director of Admission. As English is the language of instruction, English language proficiency is a key criterion for admission decisions in the Upper School (Grade 6-12). We utilize the World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) to assess students’ language proficiency.

5. Admission Decision

One week after the admission interview, our Admissions Team will notify you regarding the outcome of your application. In the event of a positive decision, you will receive a welcome package containing further information and the student contract.

We look forward to welcoming you to the International School of Debrecen and providing you with an exceptional educational experience. Should you have any questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Admissions Team.
