Service Learning Corner – Inspiring Agents of Positive Changes

At ISD, service and sustainability learning is embedded in our mission and shapes who we aspire to be as individuals and as a community. Both in Elementary School and in Middle/High School there is a member of faculty with specific responsibility to develop and coordinate our service and sustainability learning program from early years till graduation. The ISD service and sustainability learning program plays a crucial role in helping our students to become knowledgeable, skilled, creative and internationally minded agents of positive change.

The ISD service coalition was established at the beginning of this school year, where delegated students, parents and teachers meet every Thursday after school and  have been building, researching, designing our service beginnings. A part of that was to design a series of activities to educate all stakeholders over the next 3 months, including our service vision and guiding principle. In the organized work-shops students and parents taught the designed and agreed Service Learning and Sustainability Definitions together with the different Service Types to all secondary grade students, and soon for parents/guardians, too.
