Open Day

What knowledge and skills do children need to navigate the future with confidence? How can a school help them enjoy learning and feel confident enough to keep trying when they face challenges? We warmly invite you to the International School of Debrecen (ISD) Open Day, where you can discover our approach to education, meet our teachers and explore the opportunities we offer our students.

Date: Thursday, 5 November 2026
Choose between two sessions: 8:30–10:45 or 16:30–18:45.

The programme will explore three key topics through workshop-style sessions, followed by a short guided tour of the ISD campus.

• Skills and academic knowledge: What do children really need, and how do we develop these at ISD?
• Successfully navigating learning challenges: How do positive reinforcement and a sense of security support motivation and engagement in learning? How does the IB curriculum help in a smooth school start?
• The International Baccalaureate (IB): What, why and how do our students learn, how are parents involved and what is the difference between the Hungarian and the IB curriculum?
• Classroom visits during the morning session and “Language Learning at ISD” during the afternoon session.
• School tour

During the morning session, you can visit two lessons and experience learning at ISD firsthand. During the afternoon session, we will introduce our language programmes, exploring the role of English, Hungarian and additional foreign languages at ISD.

Each topic will be introduced through a 20-minute presentation. Both sessions also include a 30-minute school tour, giving you the opportunity to explore our learning spaces and school environment. Please note that this is an parent only event, please do not bring children to this Open Day.
