Balanced curriculum, many languages but one community

The International School of Debrecen (ISD) will be the very first of its kind in the region. It will provide students with a broad and balanced curriculum to gain the essential knowledge.

Our Early Childhood Program includes the combination of free play and guided play to encourage active involvement and participation. Our children learn by "doing".

The curriculum of the Elementary School contains essential elements including knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action to prepare our students for the intellectual challenges of further education and future careers.

The curriculum of the Upper school contains eight subject groups together with a core made up of five areas of interaction, including Language acquisition, Language and literature, Individuals and societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and health education and Design. The curriculum is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education, which will lead to an internationally recognized high-school diploma.

The language of the instruction is English and students of different nationalities benefit from English as an Additional Language (EAL) program. Students with little knowledge of English will also be able to access the curriculum as quickly as possible.

Our well-qualified, experienced and motivated teachers encourage our students to become independent learners as well as prepare them for prestigious universities while assisting them to lead a moral and ethical life.

The qualification achieved at ISD improves employability, opening doors to desirable jobs both in the region and overseas.

Educating internationally minded individuals to leverage their full potential

At the International School of Debrecen, we care not only about the outstanding examination results, but we encourage our students to become lifelong learners, to be confident, and to strive for self-improvement. Opinions, ideas, and an open discourse are valued as key elements in the school life. We teach students to analyse and evaluate and to make evidence-based decisions. We encourage our students to express themselves and their ideas confidently in more than one language and teach them to work effectively in collaboration with others. Our students will become internationally minded individuals who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet to help to create a better and more peaceful world.
