Our Early Childhood Programme is for boys and girls aged between three and five
At ISD we recognize how distinctive the early years of schooling are in relation to the rapid rate of development in a child's physical, social, emotional, intellectual and communication abilities. From the youngest child in our school, our students are encouraged and supported to follow their interests and to be active learners, to make choices and decisions about their learning, to use their initiative and to be independent, creative thinkers.
Our Early Childhood Programme is for boys and girls aged between three and five. Pre-K (3 – 4-year-olds) and Kindergarten (5-year-olds).
Central to Early Years programmes all over the world is 'play'. It is the 'work' of a child. Play enables children to engage in learning and explore their ideas and senses and the world around them. At ISD, our approach includes a mix of free play (child initiated/chosen) and guided play (planned by the teacher with a learning goal in mind), but both will encourage active involvement and participation – our children learn by 'doing'.
The leadership and the development team will ensure that our teachers and staff are highly qualified and trained in the field of Early Childhood Education. They are appointed for their experience and success at providing quality instruction as well as their ability to create a supportive and healthy social environment for our young learners. ISD`s standards are high and in line with our Mission Statement, we encourage not just our students, but our teachers to see themselves as 'lifelong learners' - continually reflecting on their practice and their effectiveness, sharing their ideas, learning from each other and working as a team to meet the needs of our students.
